NAPLES — Wesley Barton Cannell, 67, of Naples, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 while in care at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

Wes was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. to L. Barton and Barbara (Gilman) Cannell.

Wes grew up in Maine, the Cannell family having lived in Naples for generations. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy, Class of 1968 and attended two years at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. He was successful as an audiophile and in high-end audio sales/consultation for many years, both in Boston and New York City. He returned home to family and Maine in 1988.

Wes was well known for performing in Lake Region Community Theatre productions, and he loved singing with the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus. Wes was dedicated to his community, serving civic and nonprofit organizations in various capacities particularly the Lake Region School Board.

Surviving Wes is his adored sister, Christine (Cannell) Wolf of Buxton; a much-loved niece; and a very special friend, Anne Meade Contreras of Cerrillos, N.M.; and many dear cousins, those living locally and some far away.

A memorial service celebrating this wonderful man will be held at Unity of Greater Portland, 54 River Road, Windham, on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Airin Wolf officiating.
