Wayne S. Bell, 81

CONWAY, N.H. — Wayne “Skip” Sidney Bell, 81, of North Conway, N.H., passed away peacefully at his home after a brief illness on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017.

He was born in Center Fryeburg on Jan. 15, 1936, the son of Merton L. and May Charles Bell. He faithfully served our country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Prior to enlisting Skip worked on his beloved family farm. He was the owner of Fryeburg Clothing Co. for many years. Later he worked at Shaw’s Market, was a truck driver, a manager of Dexter Shoe and worked at WalMart until the age of 81, retiring three weeks ago.

He was a member and past master of the Pythagorean Lodge #11, a member of the Kora Shriners and the American Legion Post 95 in Conway, N.H. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and caring for his yard.

He married Cheryl Dicey on Oct. 25, 1997. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; his children, Holly (Henry) Bell Foster, Tracy Bell Mason, Kelly (Greg) Bell Lloyd, Wendy (Paul) Bell Chaplin, Teresa Bell Bair, and Carolyn (Lenny) Bell Hall; stepchildren, Rick (Lori) Austin, Russell (Beth) Austin and Penney Austin Hooper; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his brother Robert (Margaret) Bell. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Owen, Paul and Gerald Bell; sister Marcia Ingraham; and baby son Bradford.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m., at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607, or to Visiting Nurse Home Care & Hospice, PO Box 432, North Conway, NH 03860.
