Walter H. Worthington Jr., 86

Walter Worthington Jr b&wMARIETTA, GEORGIA — Walter H. Worthington Jr., 86, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Bridgton, Maine, passed away on October 21, 2013, in Georgia.

He was born May 6, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived the majority of his life in Montvale, N.J., where he raised five children with his wife of 55 years, Elaine. He worked over 25 years at AT&T and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

“God must love the common man, he made so many of them”

A common man, he won a WWII victory medal; was President of the Montvale Board of Education; was a Selectman in Bridgton, Maine; was a Trustee at the First Congregational Churches of Park Ridge, N.J. and Bridgton, Maine; as well as many other untold services to his community.

But, of course, to five lucky kids, he was anything but ordinary; perhaps that’s just what God had in mind.

He is survived by his brother, Richard Worthington, and his wife Nancy; his children, Cathy Finck and her husband Bob, Nancy Sayers, John Worthington and his wife Doreen, Pat Worthington and James Worthington and his wife Daniela; nine grandchildren, Rob, Jamie, Bradley, Kelly, Ryan, Ashley, Michael, Christopher and Julia; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Sofia, and Rylan.
