Virginia W. Prout

SCARBOROUGH — Virginia W. Prout, 90, of Scarborough, passed away on Nov. 13, 2011, at the Barron Center in Portland.

She was born in Limestone on March 3, 1921, the daughter of Marion F. and Theresa (Lauritsen) Ward. She attended local schools and graduated from Limestone High School.

She was employed as a personal secretary for several years, until her retirement.

Virginia enjoyed growing tomato plants and sharing the harvest with friends and neighbors.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Prout; brother, Josiah Ward; and sisters, Ruth Ireland and Gloria Wiley.

Surviving are her son, Gerald S. Libby of Scarborough; brothers, Reginald L. Ward of Raymond, Morris H. Ward of Limestone, and Perry A. Ward of Indianapolis, Ind.; nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough. Arrangements are under the guidance of Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
