WATERFORD — Virginia J. McGaughran, 90, of Waterford, passed away on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at her home with her loving caregivers by her side. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 27, 1924, the daughter of August James and Alice Auer McGaughran.
She had been a registered nurse in Long Island, New York for many years before retiring to Maine. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Bridgton.
Virginia is survived by a niece; several grand- and great-nieces and nephews; many friends; her loving caregivers; and her beloved 15 and a half-year-old cat, Rufus. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jimmy and Frank; and a sister, Shirley.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Bridgton. Family and friends attended visitation on Monday, Jan. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
