Viola M. McAllister, 78

NORWAY — Viola M. McAllister, 78, of East Waterford, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at the Norway Center for Rehabilitation with loved ones at her side.
Viola was born in North Waterford on June 7, 1936. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian Kittridge Herrick. She attended North Waterford schools and graduated from Norway High School. She worked at Wilner Wood Products for many years. After its closure, Viola became self-employed and did housekeeping work for area families. She was a member of the North Waterford Congregational Church, the Rebekahs and the Grange. She was a former member of the Waterford Fair Association and the Woodlawn Cemetery Association. She was also an active member of her community, where she was always willing to help others. She married Stanley McAllister on July 30, 1955. He died on Nov. 18, 1995.
Viola is also predeceased by her daughter, Roxanne Cushman on Nov. 16, 1986; and two brothers, Larry Herrick and Bud Currier.
She leaves behind her son, Mark McAllister of East Waterford; a brother, Wade Herrick of Florida; a sister, Beverly Swasey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Viola’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at the North Waterford Congregational Church.
