Victoria Lipiatos

LOVELL – Victoria Lipiatos, 94, of Lovell, passed away of natural causes on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

She was born Nov. 22, 1922, to parents Apostolos and Virginia Sazanides, in Manhattan, N.Y. She married Thanos (Tommy) Lipiatos, a merchant marine from Athens, Greece. In her younger years Victoria worked as a switchboard operator for AT&T, and then as a stay-at-home mother of four sons. She volunteered as a Girl Scouts leader. Victoria enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, watching classic movies, and stitching needlepoint wall hangings. By far, her favorite activity was spending time with her family.

Victoria leaves behind sons Marino and daughter-in-law Karen Lipiatos of Lovell, and Michael of Dawsonville, GA; and six grandchildren, Nina Close, Sarah Lipiatos, Kathleen Khaysavangh, Michael Lipiatos, Duane Lipiatos, and Stacy Lipiatos Hanlon; and 10 great-grandchildren, Skylar, Alexis, Lily, Thorin, Juliana, Micah, Carissa, Sparrow, Athena, and Victoria. She will also be missed by several loving nieces and nephews. Victoria was predeceased by her husband, Tommy, sons Peter and Paul Lipiatos, daughter-in-law Sandy, sister Katherine Ypsilanti, brother Louis Sazanides, nephews Butchie and Alex, and adored cousin Florence.
