Victor L. Sanborn

SANFORD — Victor L. Sanborn, 53, of Sanford and formerly of West Baldwin, died on Nov. 15, 2011, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Portland on April 27, 1958, the son of Dennis and Alice DeRenne Sanborn. He attended local schools and graduated from Sacopee Valley High School.

Victor worked at the Kezar Falls Woolen Mill for several years, then for several more at G.T.E. Sylvania in Standish. He most recently has worked for 17½ years as a toll collector for the Maine Turnpike Authority.

He had a great love of both music and art. He also loved animals, especially his dogs.

Victor will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Clinton Sanborn.

Victor is survived by his life partner, George Kanelos of Sanford; his sister, Veronica Parker of West Baldwin; four brothers, Dennis Sanborn Jr. of West Baldwin, Stephen Sanborn of South Hiram, Sidney Sanborn of West Baldwin, and Clifford Sanborn of West Baldwin; and also numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, Nov. 18, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with a celebration of life service immediately following at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at the Watson, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish.
