Tom A. Broadhead Sr., 78

SOUTH PARIS — Tom Allatt Broadhead Sr., 78, of South Paris, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at his home.

Tom was born in Methuen, Mass., on Oct. 9, 1935, a son of Jack and Rosemary Allatt Broadhead.

He attended North Andover, Mass., schools and graduated from Johnson High School in 1953. Following high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force, and faithfully served his country in the Korean War.

He married Barbara Weingart on May 22, 1960.

Tom worked for Raytheon in Andover, Mass., for a few years, where he was a supervisor. In 1976, Tom and his wife relocated to Maine, where they bought the Vacationland Campground in Harrison. They owned and operated the campground until 2000.

Tom enjoyed collecting things, reading and going to the movies, especially with his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Tom is predeceased by his wife, Barbara, who died on Aug. 19, 2012; and his brother, Jack Broadhead.

Surviving are his three sons, Tom Broadhead Jr. and his companion, Edie Curry, of Glen Allen, Va., Gary Broadhead and his wife, Jessica, of Bridgton, and Andrew Broadhead and his wife, Lorinda, of Hanover, Md.; two daughters, Sharon Imbert and her husband, Ed, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Susan Bundy of South Paris; and 10 grandchildren.

At the request of the family, there will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the Barbara Broadhead Memorial Fund, SAD #17, 232 Main Street, Suite #2, South Paris, ME 04281.
