WELLS — Thelma P. Boston, 93, formerly of Wells, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at the Dover Center for Health & Rehabilitation.

She was born in Lovell on Jan. 8, 1923, the daughter of James and Violet Plummer.

Thelma graduated from Fryeburg Academy before earning her teaching degree at Gorham State Teachers College. For 25 years, she taught elementary school students in Wells.

Thelma had a great love for nature, and enjoyed spending time camping, gardening, canning, and snowshoeing, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. During summer vacation, she loved spending time at Drakes Island. Thanksgiving and Christmas always were made special for the family. She was a member of the Wells Branch Baptist Church, and a Maine State Grange member for over 55 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence (Sonny) Boston; and her three sisters, Marilyn Libby, Marcia Olliver and Rita Jewett.

Surviving are her son, Paul Boston of North Berwick; daughter, Paula Johnson of New Durham, N.H.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, followed by interment in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Wells.
