Thelma I. Pearson

AUBURN — Thelma Irene (Norris) Pearson, 82, of Canton, passed peacefully on Oct. 14, 2011 at the Hospice House surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Augusta, a daughter of Wayne and Clara (Smith) Norris. She graduated from Buckfield High School in 1947. On Sept. 12, 1947, she married Rodney E. Pearson. He died in March 2004.

Thelma spent many years working at the Maplewood Lodge in Canton, a job she took great pride in as Resident Care Administrator. She also was an avid baker and supplied pies and pastries for Canton Variety.

Thelma was a wonderful wife and mother who enjoyed baking, crafts and holiday gatherings with her family. She was a generous and kindhearted woman who always put others before herself.

She is survived by daughters, Pam Akers of Casco, Rhonda Holcomb of Naples and Lori Cayer of Rumford; sons, Stephen Pearson of Auburn and Thane Pearson of Kittery; nine grandchildren; her sisters, Leona Estes of Norway and Althea McCutcheon of South Paris; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Rodney; her brother, Raymond; and her sister, Arlene.

Private family graveside services at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld Street, Dixfield.
