Tansy Goodman

Tansy Beth Goodman, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away suddenly on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Tansy was a Maine native and the daughter of Carole and Forest Goodman of Bridgton. For the past 15 years, she has lived in New York City and leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter, Ella, a 7-year-old son, Lyle, her husband George Fuchs and her sister, Ivy Goodman. Both Tansy and Ivy were natives of Bridgton, attending and graduating from Lake Region High School. Both eventually moved to Brooklyn.

Tansy went to the State University of New York in Albany, where she met her husband George. Tansy later earned her master’s degree in Real Estate Financing at NYU and worked for years on various real estate projects throughout New York City.

She and George shared the responsibility of raising two beautiful children and renovating their brownstone in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The whole family participated in tae kwon do with Tansy earning the level of red/black belt. Recently, she added personal training to her career development becoming a certified personal trainer helping people who require special rehabilitation, highlighting her commitment to health and fitness.

In her neighborhood, Tansy was well known for her volunteerism. For three years, she ran an after-school program and performed duties as a Class Parent, coordinating communication between teachers, parents and the PTA at PS 58, as well as shepherding resources and manpower for school events. Tansy was legendary for her enthusiasm concerning class projects for her children’s classrooms, as well as her generosity of spirit and resources, always being there when asked and showing up first.

She was surrounded by loved ones from both Maine and New York and will be sorely missed by all.

If you are so inclined and wish to offer support that Tansy would appreciate, please support a charity dedicated to studying, treating and hopefully curing the disease that Tansy had, cavernous angioma.
