Suzanne R. Doucette

PORTLAND — Suzanne R. (Cooper) Doucette, 62, of Portland, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010. She died at home following a long illness.

She was born in Westbrook on Aug. 28, 1948, the daughter of Arlene (Wormhood) Cooper and the late Arthur Cooper. She lived in Sebago and Portsmouth, N.H., but lived the majority of her life in Portland. She was a gifted artist and had an incredible sense of humor. All who knew her shared in her freedom of laughter. She held a special place in her heart for children and troubled teens.

Mrs. Doucette was a Sunday School teacher and volunteered in teen ministry. She worked as a CNA for the former Gorham Manor and the Barron Center.

In 1968, she married Howard Doucette of Portland and they were married for 42 years.

In addition to her husband and mother, family members include her three children, Howard Doucette III of Old Orchard Beach, Debbi Doucette of Naples and Toni Doucette of Sebago; six grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Cooper of Colorado; two sisters, Sheila Cooper of Arizona and Sherri Fickett of Sebago; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Cooper in 1991.
Private burial will be held in the Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. A celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced in a later publication of The Portland Press Herald.
