BRIDGTON — Susan M. Durfee, 67, a lifelong resident of Bridgton, died Thursday morning, Oct. 15, 2015, in the comfort of her home in Bridgton, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1948, in Bridgton, a daughter of Arthur and Hilda (Chandler) Cannell. She attended local schools and, although she didn’t graduate with her class, she was proud to have gone back to school to earn her diploma.

Sue worked locally in Bridgton all of her life, including at Bridgton Healthcare, Renys and, most notably, at the Bridgton AG in the meat room for over 20 years.

She enjoyed gardening and canning the “fruits of her labor,” birdwatching, Sunday afternoon poker games, and especially the company of her family.

Sue is loved by her husband of 43 years, Ken Durfee, whom she married in Bridgton on July 21, 1972; two daughters, Shelly Burnham and her husband, Mark of Fryeburg, and Kendra Thibodeau, also of Fryeburg; five grandchildren, Christina, Michael, Brandon, Brittany, and Trevor; a great-grandson, Dominic; six siblings, Daphne Martin of South Paris, Marcia Bradley of Waldport, Ore., Mary Arndt of Norway, Judy Nevers of Standish, and Glen and Walter Cannell, both of Bridgton. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Joyce Cannell; and a daughter, Tina Boody.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at the Forest Hills Annex. Following the service there will be a reception at the Bridgton Community Center.
