Sue Ann Blanchard, 73

WINDHAM — Sue Ann Blanchard, 73, passed peacefully on April 20, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Ledgewood Manor in Windham, Maine.

Born January 26, 1943 in Bridgton, daughter of Carrie Madeline (Moran) Ashby and Newman Thomas Blanchard Sr., Sue grew up in Bridgton and attended local schools. She worked at Percy’s Restaurant alongside her mother and sister as a waitress and cook. After the closing of Percy’s she went on to work at Pleasant Mtn. Moc as a shoe inspector. She eventually retired from there as a hand-sewer.

She was well-known for her sense of humor, love of Elvis, cats and turtles, loyalty to her family, work ethic and love of life. She especially enjoyed spending family vacations at Boothbay Harbor. There she enjoyed walking on the pier, shopping, whale watching, sunset sail cruises, going for ice cream and to the beach. Her unforgettable laugh will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ledgewood Manor for their outstanding and loving care of Sue, especially in the final weeks of her life.

She was predeceased by both of her parents and two siblings, Joel Blanchard and Linda Baker, as well as a nephew Joey Blanchard.

She is survived by her siblings, Gwen Adams of N.C., Newman Blanchard Jr. of Turner, Gary Blanchard and Dale Blanchard of Scarborough. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Carrie Loring and her husband Ronald Loring Sr. of Naples, and Cindy Jones of Naples; five grandchildren, Heather Loring, Ronald Loring Jr., both of Bridgton, Rachel Loring of Kingston, N.H., Marissa (Jones) Barker and Matthew Jones, both of Naples; a great-grandson Iden Eastman (Loring); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 30, at the American Legion Post 155 in Naples (downstairs), from 2 to 4 p.m.
