Laura Hunt of Naples has been selected as the area Lions Clubs’ “Student of the Month” for October.

Each month, area Lions Clubs recognize a Lake Region High School senior who has excelled academically. The recipient is honored at a Lions’ dinner meeting and is presented a monetary award.

Student organizations, sports teams, activities, hobbies: Reading, writing, skiing, and singing.

What do you like most about school, why? I like being able to see my friends because they make me happy and school more enjoyable.

What is your biggest challenge in school? My biggest challenge is math class because I’m not very good with numbers and learning different equations.

What is your favorite subject, and why? My favorite subject is art class because it gives you a chance to express yourself in a fun way.

If you could change one thing about school, what would it be (and why)? One thing I would change about school is how early we have to go in. I would make school start later.

What characteristics do you believe a good teacher should possess? I believe a good teacher should possess passion, open mindedness and compassion.

What goals did you hope to achieve during your high school days? I hoped to achieve good grades, to have fun, and to find myself.

What do you hope to do in the future in terms of career, and why are you headed in that direction? I hope to become a psychologist because I like helping people with their problems.

What do you think it will take to be successful in the future? Hard work, dedication and determination.

What lesson have you learned while at Lake Region High School that will help you in the future? I learned to not sweat the small stuff and hard work pays off.
