Stephen Bigonski Jr.

SCARBOROUGH — Stephen V. Bigonski Jr., 73, of Bridgton, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born on March 23, 1945, in Bridgton, a son of Stephen Bigonski Sr. and Eleanor (Allen) Willey.  He attended Norway and Bridgton schools.

Stephen went to work at the Bridgton Knitting Mill out of school, and worked there for 35 years until the time of its closing.

As a young man he enjoyed hunting and fishing and bowling on the mill’s bowling team. He always enjoyed visits with family and friends, whether they dropped in on him or vice versa, and also going for rides, especially later in life.

He is survived by five children, Stephen “Mike” Smith of West Paris, Bruce Smith of Oxford, Eleanor Bigonski of Bridgton, Andrea and Chantelle Bigonski, both of Windham; a brother, Charles “Charlie” and his wife, Brenda of Waterford; a sister, Suzanna Willey and her husband, Richard of Casco; a half-sister, Cheryl Sanderson of Denmark; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Dianne on Sept. 13, 2018, whom he married on May 31, 1996; his parents; stepfather, Roscoe Willey; half-brother David Willey; half-sister, Donna Willey.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Friday, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m., on Sunday, March 3. Interment will be in the spring at the North Bridgton Cemetery.
