Stanley T. Tyner, 91

BROWNFIELD — Stanley Theodore Tyner, 91, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Mineral Springs in No. Conway, N.H.

He was born in Oxford on October 16, 1925, to Richard Tyner and Alice Brett. He attended Oxford schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1942, where he served in WWII as an Aviation Machinists Mate, servicing planes as a Mechanic 1st Class on an island in the Pacific.

After his return, he was working for the state, operating heavy equipment, and he boarded at the Harmon home in Brownfield, where he later met and married their daughter, Barbara Harmon. Following the wedding they moved to Conn., where he worked at Niles, Bemont and Pond testing airplane engines for the war effort, until they returned to settle in Brownfield in 1954.

He worked for Lovell United Telephone in Fryeburg, and retired from Saco River Telephone after 30 years in the industry. He fully enjoyed his retirement, spending summers on Pequawket Pond in Brownfield, and wintering in Sarasota, Fla.

He was a life member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge #56, where he served as Master, and also served many years as Patron as a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of the Brownfield Community Church, and Brownfield Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Harmon; their daughter, Mary Tyner and companion Dimitri Savchick of Brownfield; granddaughter Heather Chambers and husband Lonnie; and step-great-grandchildren Hunter and Melodee; grandson, Kurt Bagley; nephew and nieces, Bruce Tyner, Cynthia Shoppe, Sylvia Verrill, Sally Reynolds Whitaker, Jo Harmon Guerrette, Nancy Harmon Kollias, and several great-nieces and nephews and loving families.
