ELIOT – Stanley Edward Brown, 82, passed away on Friday evening, July 17, 2015, at Seal Rock Health Care, Saco.

He was born in Fryeburg, on March 16, 1933, the son of William and Leona Capron Brown.

He was brought up and attended school in Fryeburg. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving our country from 1953 to 1957. Stanley was a self-employed welder and fabricator for many years. He was well-known for his love of oxen-pulling and his handcrafted yokes. In the 1980s, he raised a buffalo and the family named his street “Buffalo Lane” to honor him.

He was predeceased by his first wife Ampara “Sylvia” Brown in 2008; a son Steven Brown in 2007; brothers Roger, Howard and Ernest; and a sister Barbara.

He is survived by his wife, Bette Cole Brown of Eliot; his children, Lori Brown, Dwayne Brown and his wife Eulla, Stanley Brown and his wife Kim, all of Buxton; a brother Gordon; two sisters, Beverly and Judy; five grandchildren, Conrad, Derek, Dylan, Stacy and Peter; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lily and Noelle.

A graveside service will be held at the South Buxton Cemetery on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 11 a.m., where he will be laid to rest by Sylvia and Steven. Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, is in charge of the arrangements.
