Russell N. Ridlon, 77

FRYEBURG — Russell Neil Ridlon, 77, a lifelong resident of Fryeburg, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at his home in Fryeburg.

He was born on, Jan. 20, 1938, in Fryeburg, a son of Preston and Nellie (Cummings) Ridlon, and attended local schools.

As a young man, Russell went into the electrical field and worked alongside his uncle, Bernard and later for Shine Hill. A love of horses and working in the woods led him to buy a pair of “working” horses and start cutting wood for many years. After a drop in the wood market, he reentered the electrical field and worked as an electrician for himself, all the while buying and selling livestock, particularly horses on the side.

An avid outdoorsman, Russell loved hunting, fishing and trapping his whole life. When not in the woods, he could be found riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Russell is survived by his three sons, Timothy Ridlon of Fryeburg, Preston Ridlon and his wife, Theresa of Fryeburg, and Michael Ridlon of Fryeburg; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Monday, October 5, at 1 p.m., at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg. Arrangements are in the care of the Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg. Gifts may be given in his memory to the Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, ME 04037. Words of condolence and tribute may be shared at www.woodfuneralhome.org
