Spencer True of Naples has been selected as the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club’s “Citizen of the Month” for March.

Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes a Lake Region High School student who displays good citizenship and contributes to the school community. The recipient is honored at a Rotary breakfast meeting and is presented a monetary gift.

What do you like most about school? The thing I like most about school is Homecoming and Winter Carnival week because it’s awesome to see our school come together and build even closer relationships within our class while all showing our Laker pride.

What is your biggest challenge in school? My biggest challenge in school is trying to get peers involved in the community I love.

What is your favorite subject? My favorite subject is government and political science, because I love to be educated on political issues and form an educated perspective.

If you could change one thing about school, what would it be? If I could change one thing about this school I would increase the amount of school spirit and involvement because to me that’s the most important part of high school.

What characteristics do you believe a good teacher should possess? A good teacher is encouraging, involved and passionate. A teacher should believe in his/her students’ abilities and push them to what they’re capable of, by encouragement. By being involved, they should support them in not only school, but also their personal interests. Lastly, they should really enjoy what they’re doing and make learning fun.

What goals did you hope to achieve during your high school days? I hope to graduate and leave a good example for my peers.

What do you hope to do in the future in terms of career, and why are you headed in that direction? I hope to be a dentist in the military serving my country and traveling the world. I’m choosing to head in this direction because I love the country that we are very fortunate to live in and I’m really interested in dentistry.

What do you think it will take to be successful in the future? In order to be successful in the future, it will take hard work and the determination to stay on track no matter what life throws at me.

What lesson have you learned while at Lake Region High School that will help you in the future? At Lake Region High School, I’ve learned that you can only reach your full potential through hard work.
