Rotary Citizen of the Month: Heidi Jewett

Heidi Jewett of Casco has been selected as the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club’s “Citizen of the Month” for December.

Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes a Lake Region High School student who displays good citizenship and contributes to the school community. The recipient is honored at a Rotary breakfast meeting and is presented a savings bond.

Activities: Student Council, National Honor Society, Varsity Club, Softball, Basketball.

Community activities: Casco Days volunteer and Harvest Hills volunteer.

Hobbies: Playing softball, listening to music and reading.

Future plans: Attend the University of Alabama and eventually become a detective or police officer.

What is your favorite class? HJ. Forensics, because all of the concepts we learn are things that I would like to use eventually in my career.

What is your toughest class? HJ. AP English, because English is my worst subject and I find the work challenging.

How do you balance your class work and your extracurricular activities? HJ. Sometimes it is hard, but I try my best to get all my work done before I go participate in other things.

What is the biggest challenge high school students’ face today? HJ. Not falling into peer pressure, but also trying to manage all your activities and time.

Who has inspired you educationally? HJ. Ms. Farrah, because she was the first teacher who actually pushed me to be better and to do more work.
