FORT WALTON BEACH, FL. — Ronald “Ron” W. Lord, 73, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015.

He was born in Bridgton on March 17, 1941, to the late George B. Lord and Marion Eaton Lord. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps as a vehicle mechanic. He later crossed-trained into the Air Force, where he worked as a ground radio technician. He spent the majority of his career overseas, which included several tours during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal.

Ron retired in 1981 after 21 years of honorable service. He was an avid carpenter and would often build furniture and do other projects for his family. He enjoyed time with his family, listening to Elvis and collecting movies. But, his happiest moments were when he was spending time with his grandchildren.

Ron was predeceased by his parents and his sister Judy Flick. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Oratai Lord; daughter Erika Williams and her husband Ted; grandchildren, Jalen and Kaden Williams; brothers, Dale, Butch and Danny Lord; sisters, Bonnie Longley, Cheryl Lord and Shannon Thompson; and many other family and friends.
