HEBRON — Robert Paul “Buckshot” Thomas, 79, passed peacefully at home Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Belfast on June 30, 1936, to Alfred and Corrina Thomas. Buck grew up in Belfast and Lewiston and lived his life in Hebron.

Buck will long be remembered for his love of nature, his eye for a pile of rock, soon to be his next work of art. He knew the best hunting spots and the secret fishing hole. He often told the story of shooting an albino deer and making the paper.

In 1992, Buck traveled to Alaska on the “dream trip,” spending time with his lifelong friend, Bucky Brown, fishing, panning for gold, camping and just being “guys.”

Buck enjoyed simple things, good coffee, good company, a game of cards, pud, pitch or poker! Laughter would always be heard when he thought his family conspired against him.

Buck leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Verna (Beaulieu) Thomas; his brothers, Roger Thomas of Sabattus and Burton Thomas of Florida; his sisters, Nancy Roy of Durham and Sylvia Mills of Florida; his children, Jocelyn Frechette of Conway, N.H., Stephanie Warren of Jacksonville, N.C., Jacinta Dostie of Lewiston, Michael Thomas of Harrison, Carol Thomas and Jamie Thomas, both of Hebron; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many close friends.

As Buck wished, there will only be a celebration of his life well lived, no “service,” on Sunday, Nov. 15, at his home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.
