HUNTINGTON, W.V. — Robert L. Frum, 86, a resident of the Woodlands retirement community in Huntington, W.V., passed away on March 6, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard D. and Grace McGinnis Frum, as well as his brother Earl.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Colebank Frum. He also leaves behind his children, Tamara Lynn Frum of Newcomerstown, Ohio; and R. David Frum, David's wife, Julie, and Bob's grandchildren, Jessica and Rachel Frum, all of Sweden, Maine. He is also survived by his cousin, MaryAnne Schulteiss Griffin of McMinville, Ore.

Bob began teaching after graduating from Marshall University in 1950. He retired from active service to public education in 1990. He received his Master's and Doctoral degrees from Ohio University in 1957 and 1967, respectively, He was appointed Superintendent of Lowell County, Ohio Schools in 1957. He also served as Superintendent of Schools in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Warren, Michigan, Columbiana County, Ohio, and Cabell County Public Schools in Huntington, West Virginia. Bob also taught at Ohio University, Marshall University and Morehead State University. He was a lifetime member of Phi Delta Kappa.

After retirement, Bob was active in his communities, serving on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club, Area Action Agency and Family Recovery. He also served on the city of Columbiana, Ohio's Civil Service Commission until the time of his death. He served on several committees at his church, Columbiana United Methodist, and also helped start the Northeastern Ohio Marshall University Alumni Chapter. For over 60 years, Bob was an active supporter of Marshall University athletics.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Scholarship Fund at Marshall University, or to the Columbiana, Ohio United Methodist Church. In death, we are compelled to remember the fullness of life. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of Mr. Frum.
