Robert H. Kyle, 81

ALTON, N.H. — Robert H. Kyle, 81, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Bob Kyle resided in Alton, N.H., with his wife, Marion (Brown) Kyle. In 1977, Bob retired as a major in the Unites States Army after serving two years in the Navy and 18 in the Army, including two tours of duty in Thailand and Vietnam.

A true renaissance man, Bob traveled around the world, painted in oils, wrote a novel, The Fifth Season (based on his experiences in Vietnam) and was a gifted woodworker. He attended nursing school at the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, Mass., and then continued on to anesthesia school in El Paso, Texas.

After retiring from the Army, Bob and his family moved to Bethlehem, N.H., where he worked at The Littleton Hospital for 11 years, retiring in 1988.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion (Brown) Kyle; his daughters Cindy Frick of Eddington and Roberta “Bobbi” Kyle of Worcester, Mass.; his son, Mitchell Kyle of Salem, Mass.; four grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Kyle) Newcomb of South Portland; and his brother, Richard Kyle of Casco.

There will be no funeral services at his request. Bob’s ashes will be scattered near his childhood home in Charleston. To honor Bob’s memory, his family asks that you do something special for a child in your life or in your community.
