Robert B. Darling, 43

PORTLAND — Robert B. Darling, 43, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at Maine Medical Center as the result of a heart attack.

Bobby was born in Portland on July 14, 1975, the son of Peter W. and Patricia A. (Earles) Darling. He attended local schools and graduated from South Portland High School in the Class of 1993. He was a life communicant of Holy Cross Church in South Portland. Bobby spent most of his adult life working as a chef in various restaurants in both Portland and South Portland. He was a fantastic artist, who enjoyed cartoon and comic book characters. He was a real movie buff and a diehard Star Wars fan. His greatest love was the time he spent surrounded by his family especially his nieces and nephews. Bobby will long be remembered as a survivor that always fought for himself and others.

Bobby was predeceased by his father, Peter W. Darling.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia A. Darling of South Portland; three brothers, Marty Darling of Gorham, Peter Darling of Standish and David Darling of Virginia; four sisters, Marie Jordan of Standish, Susan Mardas of Cornish, Gini MacDonald of Naples and Julie Barrett of Colorado; many nieces and nephews.

Vigil prayers were held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland followed by a time of visitation for family and friends to share memories and celebrate Bobby’s life. Burial will be private.
