Richard W. Densmore, 85

PORTLAND — Richard W. “Dick” Densmore, 85, of Portland, died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, in Scarborough.

Dick was born in Portland on April 21, 1927, the son of Waldo and Elsie (Marr) Densmore. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Portland High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and for many years worked as a mechanic for the Portland Water District.

Dick was a long-standing member of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Portland, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He enjoyed railroading as well as vintage trolley cars.

Dick was a thoughtful and loving man that will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Predeceasing Dick was his wife Jean (Gamlen) Densmore in October of 2010.

Surviving are two sisters, Muriel Wild of West Paris and Ruth Bachelder of Casco; five nieces and nephews.

An afternoon of visitation for Dick and his family was be held on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A 10 a.m. funeral service was be held on Monday, Nov. 5, at the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, 1571 Washington Avenue, Portland. Burial followed at Brooklawn Cemetery in Portland.
