Richard B. Buzzell Sr.

BALDWIN — Richard B. Buzzell Sr., 76, of Baldwin and formerly of Gorham, died on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at a Portland hospital.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1935, in Baldwin, the son of David and Ethel Wentworth Buzzell. He graduated from Potter Academy.

A lifelong truck driver, he began his career with Lester Woods Trucking and later for the Maine Department of Transportation, working out of the Gorham camp as a foreman. Mr. Buzzell then worked for L.R. Higgins Trucking of Scarborough for over 20 years and retired in 2007. After his retirement, he worked for Ralph Perry and the Town of Baldwin.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his grandchildren, working, dancing and auto racing at Beech Ridge Speedway.

His wife, Ann Marie Wight Buzzell, died in 2006.

Surviving are his sons, Richard B. Buzzell Jr. of Gorham and Dennis N. Buzzell of Standish; two sisters, Betty Lord of Baldwin and Mona Wentworth of Cornish; five grandsons, three granddaughters, a step-granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Sapling Hill Cemetery, Sebago Lake Road, Gorham. Arrangements are by the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Online condolences may be made to www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
