GROVEVILLE — Reta Edna Stevens Hall, 80, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a three year battle with breast cancer.
She was born on July 11, 1934 in Hollis, the daughter of Emery and Florence (Hulit) Stevens of Buxton. Reta was raised and educated in Buxton. She graduated from the Samuel D. Hanson High School. She worked for many years at Cushman’s Bakery in Portland and Steven’s Market in Groveville.
Reta was a member of the Sokokis Riders Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed harness racing, cribbage, gardening, snowmobiling, boating, entertaining friends and family, and as a child she loved to dress up her dog, Spot.
She was predeceased by her husband Philip Hall; three brothers, Ernest Stevens, Louis Stevens and Carroll Stevens; and a sister, Katherine Richards.
She is survived by five nieces and nephews including Steven Richards of Hiram; four stepchildren, Demi Peabody of Hiram, Donna Bean of Waterboro, Doreen Gagne of Spencer, Mass. and Darryl Hall; as well as many great nieces and nephews and stepgrandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at the Groveville Congregational Church, 22 Church Hill Road, Groveville (Buxton). Pastor Ron Sargent will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Road, Buxton is in charge of the arrangements.
