Raymond C. Marshall Jr.

DUNNELLON, FLA. — Raymond C. Marshall Jr., 69, of Dunnellon, Fla., passed away on May 28, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Buxton on Jan. 3, 1942, the son of Raymond C. Marshall Sr. and Mattie (Wentworth) Marshall. Raymond grew up in Buxton, where he attended school before entering the Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked for Noyes Tire, FS Plummer before starting his own business as a self-employed contractor and builder.

He was a member of the VFW.

He will always be remembered for his hard work, positive attitude and for being a terrific grandfather. He enjoyed boating, camping, visiting historic sites and working on his construction equipment in his younger years.

He was predeceased by a wife, Carol (Edwards) Marshall; a daughter of former wife Natalie (Mayo) Marshall, Laurie Jean Marshall; his father, Raymond Marshall Sr.; mother, Mattie Peters; a sister, Joan Marshall, and two brothers, Merle F. Marshall and baby boy Marshall.

Raymond is survived by his longtime companion, Carol Hardin of Dunnellon, Fla.; children of his former wife Natalie (Mayo) Marshall (deceased), Wanda Emery of Buxton, Herbert Marshall of Hiram, and Robert Marshall of Buxton; and children with Carol (Edwards) Marshall, Raymond Marshall III of Windham and Bethany Marshall of Westminster, Mass.; a stepson, Christopher Maines of Windham; sisters, Betty Wakefield of Buxton and Beverly Nye of Falmouth; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

As he requested, no funeral services are planned.
