FRYEBURG — If younger cheerleaders need a good example to follow, Claudine Clarke would be a good choice.

“Claudine is always there for the entire team whenever they need her! She is honest and reliable in and out of practice,” Fryeburg Academy cheerleading coach Jillian Tetreault said. “She is always willing to push herself to be the best she can be! She is a great role model not only for her peers, but also for young aspiring cheerleaders.”

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Claudine is this week’s Raider Boosters Club “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Fryeburg Academy athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by the Raider Boosters Club.

Q. Why did you choose cheering? I wanted a sport that was fun and competitive. I was a cheerleader before and I decided to try it again with a close group of friends. It is really fun.

Q. What did you hope to accomplish this season? I hoped to accomplish having the girls get close to each other and do some amazing solid stunts for competition.

Q. What do you enjoy the most? Being with my friends and trying random stunts and cheers.

Q. What do enjoy the least? We all have bad days, but in cheering, they rarely happen!

Q. What makes you successful? I like to try new things in every practice and push myself until I get it right. I never stop at 100% and try for 110%.

Q. What would your dream moment be? Placing in the State Winter Cheering Competition would be my dream for this team. We have worked so hard everyday that I believe we can make it!

Q. What has sports taught you? Sports have taught me about patience and teamwork. You need to have patience in everything you do with a team.

Q. What do you like most about your team? We work so well together and have fun while accomplishing our work in practice.

Q. Who has inspired you? The dedication that my captain Karissa Watkins shows toward the team has inspired me to become a much better athlete. The amount of work she puts into the team makes me want to thank her by being the best that I can be.
