Being the longest-tenured Laker on the varsity volleyball team, Nicole Fox has endured a lot of the growing pains of a new program.

The Lakers often find themselves on the losing end of the final score, but Nicole keeps her teammates up and passes along her love of the sport.

As a senior captain, Nicole averaged 5 digs, 4 blocks, and 5 kills in the last two matches played against Gorham and Cheverus.

“Nicole has provided some much-needed offense and defense for our team. She has done an excellent job digging up spiked balls from our opponents, and her laser serve has added on some good points in each of our matches,” Laker Coach Ryan Shible said.

As a captain, Nicole has also provided great advice and encouragement to newer players, reminding her teammates to, “Ignore the score and focus on the game,” Coach Shible said.

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Nicole is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
