Player of the Week: Nick Scarlett

Nick Scarlett

To say Nick Scarlett is always on the run this fall may be an understatement.

When he isn’t training along the winding and uphill paths or roads as a member of the Lake Region cross-country team, he is tracking his ball at Bridgton Highlands Country Club as a member of the LRHS golf team.

A two-sport athlete this fall, Nick has found success in both arenas because of his reliability and willingness to put forth the same amount of energy and determination.

“He’s been my most reliable player and one of our top golfers,” LRHS varsity golf coach Art Kilborn said. “Nick has been with us every day and has played in all of our matches as our fifth or sixth golfer. He is giving up a lot of his time to be part of two teams.”

Coach Kilborn selected Nick as the player of the week based on his work habits and contributions to the team — he has scored in “three or four” of the Lakers’ matches.

“Just a pleasure to have on the team,” Coach Kilborn said. “He’s had a strong impact on our team — one of those kids that you never have to worry about and is always working to improve.”

In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Nick is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
