Katie Throgmorton

Sophomore Katie Throgmorton is a very smart and dependable fullback who anchors the back line for the Lake Region varsity girls’ soccer team.

“She positions herself to be in the right place at the right time, and because she understands the overall scheme of the defense in relation to player positioning and responsibility, she has played all three back line positions very well this season,” Lake Region Coach Harvey Toews said. “She is ‘tough as nails,’ never backing down from a physical challenge.”

Coach Toews also said that Katie is a positive role model for her teammates because of her dedication, effort and positive attitude.

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Kate is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.”

Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Selection is made by the player’s varsity coach. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
