FRYEBURG — Haley Nadeau always is seeking to improve her tennis game.

“Haley has the desire to improve and work on things,” Fryeburg Academy varsity girls’ tennis coach Chris Chaffee said. “She always has a positive and competitive attitude. She is also a great teammate to the girls.”

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Haley is this week’s Raider Boosters Club “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Fryeburg Academy athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by the Raider Boosters Club.

Q. Why did you choose tennis? Tennis was something I had never tried before and always had an interest in it, so when I heard Fryeburg Academy had a team I was all for it.

Q. What do you hope to accomplish this season? To improve my tennis skills, such as my serve and my backhand.

Q. What do you enjoy the most? I like how close our team is, and how we make every match a great time and experience.

Q. What do enjoy the least? I like that tennis does not get people as pumped up as other sports, yet it is an exciting sport you can really get into.

Q. What makes you successful? I try not to let a loss get to me. Every game I play makes me better, so it’s a learning experience even if I don’t win.

Q. What would your dream moment be? For me and my double partner to have a really good match, where we pump every hit and really get into the game!

Q. What have sports taught you? Sports have taught me teamwork. Even though tennis is not all about the big team, we support each other at every match.

Q. What do you like most about your team? I love that my team is so supportive! Even when a player loses, we keep a smile and a positive attitude.

Q. Who has inspired you? My coach, Chris Chaffee, inspires me to give tennis my all and never lose hope in any match. He always has good advice for me that helps me keep my chin up.
