Evan Kellough can place a check mark next to each of the above-listed items.

“Evan has noticeably improved his skills,” Lake Region varsity golf coach Art Kilborn said.

In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Evan is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed T-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

School Activities/Sports: Golf, hockey, lacrosse

Q. Why did you choose golf? EK. I took lessons over the summer and enjoyed it, so I joined the team when school started.

Q. What do you hope to accomplish this season? EK. I would like to accomplish some consistency in my swing and just play the best I can.

Q. What do you enjoy the most? EK. I enjoy the peace and quiet you don’t get from other sports, like hockey and lacrosse.

Q. What do you like the least? EK. When it rains.

Q. What makes you successful? EK. A good coach and practicing good habits.

Q. What would your dream moment be? EK. Just being able to play varsity and play the game for my school is good, but my dream moment is doing great for my team.

Q. What has the sport taught you? EK. It has taught me that sports aren’t about being perfect, it’s about playing the game and the practice you put into it.

Q. Who has inspired you? EK. My coach’s dedication to the sport has really inspired me.
