Ben Roy is an unheralded athlete who competes mainly in two diverse events during the indoor track & field season.

The shot put requires explosive power and distance running uses aerobic capacity and patience. Ben set personal records several times this season including a jaw-dropping 800-meter PR by 6 seconds at the conference championship.

“He is well-liked by his peers and coaches and he is very supportive of his teammates,” Lake Region Coach Mark Snow said.

In recognition of his strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Ben is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
