GRAY — Phyllis L. Bentley, 97, of Gray, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at her home.

She was born in Raymond Village on July 28, 1913, the daughter of Benjamin and Addie Shaw Leavitt. She graduated from Pennell Institute, where she was the oldest living graduate at the time of her death. She also graduated from Bliss Business School.

She married John E. Bentley in 1936; he passed away in 1985.

She had been a postal clerk at the Gray Post Office. She was a member of the Gray Congregational Church.

She is survived by her children, Suzanne B. Nicolo of Naples and John E. Bentley Jr. of Gray; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in the spring with interment at Gray Village Cemetery in Gray. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray.
