FRYEBURG — Phyllis H. Phinney, 100, formerly from Cornish, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2014 at Fryeburg Health Care Center.
She was born June 11, 1914 at home in Windham, the daughter of Joseph Petto and Bertha (Miller) Brown. In her early years, Phyllis worked at Ellis Paper Board and Sebago Moc Shoe Factory. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower garden. There was one time when she couldn’t wait for spring and the snow to go, so she shoveled the snow out of the flowerbeds. She loved to go fishing, frogging and playing “63” with her daughter Patty, and Patty’s late husband, Teddy. She also enjoyed NASCAR, football and golf.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her first husband Kelsey Leath Phinney; second husband, Phillip Parker; three of her five children, Ronnie, Robert and Paul Phinney; two sisters, Elizabeth Moore and Louise Knight; and a brother, Buster Petto.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Dyer of Cornish and William Phinney of Litchfield; five close grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a niece and three nephews.
