Phillip "Jim" Gibbons

Phillip James “Jim” Gibbons, 65, of Bridgton, died unexpectedly, Wed-nesday, May 24, 2017, at his home in Bridgton.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1951, in Boston, Mass., a son of Dolores (Forrester) and George “Uncle Mucka” Finch. He attended West Bridgewater, Mass. schools and went on to work with the Job Corps in forestry in Minnesota.

On April 3, 1971, he married Patricia A. E. “Pat” Kruger in East Bridgewater, Mass., and moved to Maine in 1977, where he worked as a building contractor. Most recently, Jim worked as a direct support staff member for NeuroRestorative Maine in Sebago.

He was very involved in his children and grandchildren’s activities over the years and time spent with them was priceless. A close second, however, was time spent in the woods hunting. He was a registered Maine Guide, and had the good fortune to have hunted throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Jim is survived by his children, Patrice Gibbons of Pine Island, Fla., Jim Gibbons and his wife, Mary of Naples, Justin Gibbons and his wife, Patti of Bridgton, and Jake Gibbons and his fiancée, Michelle Trask of Bridgton; five grandchildren, Cody, Justin, Brock, Madyson, and Ella Gibbons; siblings, Joseph Jopling of Bridgton, Mary Pereira of Ansonia, Conn., and Dolores Ann Kocur of Dover, Del. He was predeceased by his wife, Pat, on, Sept. 3, 2014; and two brothers, Brian and Robert Jopling.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, June 9, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Bridgton. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 5 to 6 p.m. Condolences and tributes may be shared at www.chandlerfunerals.com
