ONTARIO, CANADA — Peter K. Avery, 60, passed away after a long battle with cancer in Ontario, Canada.

He was born in Portland on Aug. 15, 1952, the son of Frank and Jannette Avery of Windham.

Peter was a carpenter and skilled cabinetmaker and loved working with wood, building something beautiful. He enjoyed traveling to wilderness areas around the world, places that were awe-inspiring and devoid of civilization, quiet country. Pete was always ready for an adventure, a journey.

Peter is survived by his brother, Mark of Sebago; sister, Sharmon Toner of Windham; daughter, Jennifer Avery of Windham; and longtime lady friend, Nicole Trudeau of Ontario, Calif.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Chute A. Blondeau Community Center, 2005 Main Street, Ontario, Canada. It will be held from 12 to 3:30 p.m.
