SEBAGO — Peter A. Cremonese, 49, of Sebago, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, after a long illness.

He was born in Holyoke, Mass., on Feb. 23, 1966, the son of Anthony Cremonese of Freeport and Joanne (Libby) Flanders and her husband, Marvin of Standish.

He loved the ocean, as a young boy you could always find him at Willard Beach. After completing high school in Cape Elizabeth, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Providence, R.I. Upon completion, he returned home and worked in our coastal fishing community until he joined the merchant marines and traveled to the far points of the globe.

He had a very compassionate side never straying from helping anyone who needed it. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Peter was a mentor to his nephews teaching them to fish and shoot.

In 2007, he met his life partner, Virginia Dibiase and welcomed her children as his own. He would spend hours with his grandson, Dominic who he treasured and was known to him as his gampy. He touched many lives and spread joy and happiness to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, family members include his brothers, Michael Cremonese of Westbrook, Nick Cremonese of Winthrop, Richard Butts of Greene, and a sister, Teresa Meeks of Sanford. He will be sadly missed by two wonderful fathers, Richard Butts, and Marvin Flanders; and by several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held by the family. Arrangements by the A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, Portland. To offer condolences and share memories with the family please go to www.athutchins.com
