FREEPORT — Pauline M. Haggett, 89, died at her home in Freeport on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.

She was born in South Portland, the daughter of William and Estella Gilson. Polly attended Westbrook Junior College and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono.

She married Philip Chute of Naples in 1947, and Russell Haggett of Bridgton in 1969, both of whom predeceased her. She worked as a teacher before her children were born, later as a secretary in the hospitality and ski industries, and then in a law office until retiring at the age of 82.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Chute Hsiang of Bethany, Conn. and Kathleen Chute King of Vancouver, British Columbia; a son, James Chute of Freeport; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

At her request, there will be no public services.
