Pauline H. McAllister

WEST PARIS — Pauline (Polly) H. McAllister, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at the Ledgeview Living Center.

She was born Jan. 20, 1923 in Norway, to Paul F. and Mildred Noyes Hosmer. Despite weighing 3 pounds at birth, Polly was rarely sick a day in her life. She graduated from Norway High School, Class of 1941. On Aug. 27, 1954, she married Lawrence (Gus) W. McAllister. Together, they made their home and raised their family in the village of North Waterford, and later on the beautiful shores of Jewett Pond.

Polly enjoyed Christmas decorations and music. She really knew the true meaning of Christmas. She loved the outdoors, especially listening to the loons on Jewett Pond. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved going to Jackman to camp.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence of 56 years; children Jeffrey McAllister of Boise Idaho, Carol Miller of Sweden, Vickie Millett of Norway, and Paul McAllister of North Waterford; and her four grandchildren who were the joy of her life; and many nieces and nephews.

At Polly’s request, there will be no formal service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Polly’s memory to the Stoneham Rescue, P.O. Box 42, East Stoneham, ME 04231.
