Paul W. Locke

HOLLIS — Paul W. Locke, 61, of River Road, passed away at his home on Oct. 16, 2010, surrounded by loved ones following a yearlong battle with melanoma.

He was born in Portland, on Aug. 16, 1949, the son of Clayton and Dorothy Locke of Porter. He was raised in Porter, graduating from Fryeburg Academy in 1967.

In 1971, he went to work for New England Tel. & Tel. In 1976, he went to work for Central Maine Power Co. at the Southern Hydro Headquarters until that division was sold to Florida Power and Light in 2000. He continued to work for FPL in the same capacity.

Paul was a man with a strong work ethic and enjoyed the work he did. Though his home was in Hollis, you would find him in Porter working the land that he loved on most weekends. Whether it was haying the fields, splitting wood, working his sawmill or hunting and fishing, he always enjoyed what he was doing there.

In 1975, he married Sally (Leighton) Locke. Together they had one child, Jessica L. Locke of Hollis, who has one daughter, Sadie R. Glover. Paul is also survived by a son, Seth W. Locke of Harrison; and four grandsons. He also leaves a great-grandson. He is also survived by his mother and father; a sister, Patty Parker of Porter; several aunts, uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews.

Memorial visiting hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 5 School St., Porter, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Arrangements are by Independent Death Care, Portland.
