Patrick Maloney

SCARBOROUGH — Patrick Frank Maloney, 64, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 15, 1953, in Portland, to the late Philip E. and Phyllis E. (Webster) Maloney.

Pat attended Cathedral School and graduated from Portland High School, Class of 1971. He was very active in the 5th Maine Regiment Drum & Bugle Corp, where he was drum major for several years.

He went on to teach high school marching band at Deering High School and then Westbrook High School for many years. Pat worked for the Portland Water District for 30 years, and most recently at Exactitude, Inc., in Cumberland.

Pat married his wife of 43 years, Valarie Ingalls, in January 1974.

Pat was an avid baseball fan, coaching his kids throughout their childhood. He loved to joke and would always try to get a laugh out of anyone and everyone. He was most beloved as being the emcee of the annual Christmas Eve celebration, which also included coming up with and hosting all sorts of games.

His other love was dogs. He was a founding member of the Bearded Collie Club of Maine, and loved helping to put on the shows and events that went along with that. He and his wife have bred and shown dogs for over 30 years, and he was very proud of their most recent litter of puppies.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Valarie (Ingalls) Maloney, are his son, Brian of Scarborough; daughter, Katie of Westbrook; son, Andrew of Westbrook; his adored grandson; his brother, Michael of Raymond; sisters, Kathleen Cole of Portland, and Nancy Kelly of Bridgton; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Pat’s life on Saturday, April 8, from 2 to 6 p.m. at The Irish Heritage Center, 34 Gray Street, Portland. To share memories and condolences with the family, please go to: www.athutchins.com
