PORTLAND — Patricia Young Casey, 83, died on Aug. 28, 2011, in Portland.
Pat was born in Portland on Jan. 15, 1928, the daughter of Augustus and Katherine Messervey Young.
Pat was a lifelong resident of Portland, growing up in the Riverton area, and later settling in the Stroudwater area where she lived for many years. She attended Portland schools and graduated from the Gray Business School.
Pat and her brother, Nathan Young, operated Young’s Auto Radiator for over 40 years, a successful business, respected for its honesty and integrity.
Pat was a devoted and loving wife to John Theodore “Ted” Casey. They were happily married for almost 50 years before his death in March of 2009. They enjoyed their homes in Stroudwater and the camp they built on Thomas Pond. They enjoyed many peaceful boat rides on the pond with their wonderful friends the Detwilers.
Pat was an active and longtime member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist and held steadfast to its teachings.
Pat and Ted had many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews whom they enjoyed and encouraged through the years. They loved to be included in their celebrations and hearing of their achievements.
After many happy years in the Stroudwater area, Pat and Ted moved to the Woods at Canco where they met new friends and renewed old friendships. Their family is grateful for the kindness bestowed by the Canco Woods’ staff and by Pat’s and Ted’s friends there.
