Patricia D. McInerny

Tricia was born May 23, 1959 in Somerville, Mass. A star athlete and honor student, she graduated from SomervilleHigh School in 1977, then received her degree in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1981. Tricia did her journalism internship at the Bridgton News in Bridgton, Maine, where she spent her summers and winters at her family’s vacation home. She worked as a Mental Health Recreational Therapist in Belchertown, Mass. before opening a successful coffee business in Greenfield, Mass. She later became co-owner of Earthwise Trading Company in Newburyport. Animal lover, avid skier, accomplished musician, successful gardener, and lifelong track enthusiast, she competed in the Maine Senior Games in 2008, winning three gold medals in the discus, javelin, and shot put events.
Tricia brought happiness and joy to all she knew and will be remembered for her love of life and her always beaming smile which never dimmed, even through a series of life-changing illnesses. Tricia will be greatly missed by her loving parents, John and Betty McInerny, of Scarborough, Maine; her siblings and family, Wendy McInerny and Chip Seamans, niece Mattie and nephew Malcolm of Windham, N.Y., Jack and Kathleen McInerny and nephew Wesley of Portland, Maine, Steven McInerny and Maria McEachern of Somerville, Mass.; and dearest friend and partner, Valerie Weaver, of Greenwood, S.C.
A Life remembrance for Tricia will be held at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s memory to Anna Jacques Hospital, Cancer Center, Newburyport, MA 01950, www.AJH.com
