Parker L. Wells, 86

PORTLAND — Parker L. Wells, 86, of Portland passed away in Portland on Feb. 17, 2013.

He was born in Portland, a son of Norman L. and Velona L. Pike Wells.

He was educated in the South Portland Schools and graduated from South Portland High School. Parker was a veteran of World War II and a volunteer for the Willard Engine & Ladder Co. #2 in South Portland since 1942. Mr. Wells worked at the Portland Pipeline, Label World, Maine National Bank, Bank of New England, Fleet Bank, and was the mail courier for A&P Stores. Parker was a longtime member of the Peoples United Methodist Church, where he was the financial secretary for 10 years and served on the administrative board.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor M. Wells, who passed away on Feb. 5, 2013, and his son, Daryl P. Wells in 1987.

Mr. Wells is survived by three grandchildren, Amy L. O'Neill of Freeport, Michael E. Wells of Raymond, and Jennifer E. Little of South Portland; and many nieces and nephews.

A visiting hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the spring. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hobbfuneralhome.com
